Ethnic minorities and Indigenous peoples have been gradually elected to the political arena in many countries. Yet, we do not know enough about ways to strengthen minority group rights, mitigate ethnic conflict, and improve the political representation of diverse groups. The Ethnic Quota Project, under the leadership of Drs. Karen Bird and Netina Tan, aims to build a Global Handbook of Ethnic Quotas of more than 40 countries around the world. If you are interested in studying ethnic relations, conflict resolution, and minority representation, you are invited to apply. Successful candidates will be offered methodological training and the opportunities to conduct field work in Asia, Europe, Africa or Latin America.

For more information on these awards, please visit the Ethnic Quota Website and download the application instructions. You can also contact Dr. Netina Tan (netina@mcmaster.ca) or Dr. Karen Bird (kbird@mcmaster.ca) for more information.
